Wave 2 Features and Fixed Bugs

Features

• New mobile interface for Windows Phone and iPhone
• Added compatibility for Windows Tablet and improved performance on iPad
• New landing page provides general information and embeds the ChronoZoom introduction video
• Fall back page now allows users to bypass it in case browser type was incorrectly detected:http://www.chronozoomproject.org/testFallBackPage.htm
• Timelines that are too far away to read will now display titles on hover, improving discoverability
• All exhibit images now streamed using DeepZoom for faster loading: http://www.chronozoomproject.org/#/t55/t174/t66/t46/t361/t364/t377/t161/t9/t110/t302/e21
• Breadcrumbs are now color coded to match regimes
• Improved breadcrumb display accuracy: the active timeline in the canvas will now correctly display as the last item in the breadcrumb list
• Breadcrumb list can now be scrolled back and forth all the way back to Cosmos instead of being truncated.
• Faster initial loading time: Tour audio will now load only as needed, landing page with video will display while canvas is being rendered in background
• Tours can now shared by simply copying and pasting the URL
• Full screen button for images inside exhibits

Fixed Bugs

Zooming out when on Cosmos results in odd behavior.
Layout of ContentItems changes when publishing between environments if no ContentItem Order is set.
Canvas. Scrollbars appear and regime navigator bar is out of screen border.
Tours. Clicking Play at the first bookmark after two Pauses does not resume tour narration.
Timelines disappear during panning at max zoom level.
Axis. Pan gesture on the axis does not update the axis marker.
Axis. Right clicking on the axis causes pan.
Click at bibliography link while animation is running cause a leap to initial visible region.
Sharing of bibliography window at the moment of infodot's transition doesn't work correctly.
Threshold “leg” doesn’t always disappear.
Regime navigator doesn't save state after page refresh.

• Multi-touch support in HTML5 added: Pinch and Zoom
• New zoom algorithm that includes acceleration and deceleration effect for graceful transitions
• Exhibits now display ContentItems even when zoomed out: At a glance see which dots have lots of content
• 46% Increase in content: Even more if including the Smithsonian AIDS timeline (separate server)
• Exhibit titles are now displayed upon hover: Easily find out the name of a dot without zooming to it
• Improved tour playback on Chrome and FireFox
• New tours: Mayan History and a Brief History of Dinosaurs (Try the dinosaur tour!)
• New brighter and sharper background image that is 70% smaller in file size for faster page load
• Clicking on colored regime bars in top right to zoom is now supported
• Improved Threshold Marker behavior: Click to open
• Human history is now nested inside of Homo sapiens, resulting in a more logical browsing experience
• Improved readability of logos in footer
• Survey link in footer is highlighted
